Meatloaf is such a comfort food for everyone! It is considered by many to be a wonderful family meal. But you don’t have to wait for your family to come over before you make it. You can make it just for yourself and your hubby. I am here to help you do that.


How to Make a Homemade Meatloaf: 8 Tips for Perfect Results (Italian Style)

  1. Learn how to make meatloaf and you will be the star of dinners, lunches, and parties every time! Meatloaf can be such a versatile meal, that can be prepared to suit any palette. Try my recipe for meatloaf and then take it in whatever direction you’d like. Whether you are looking for a hearty main dish that the entire family will love. This is definitely a recipe to have handy!
  2. To ensure success in making homemade meatloaf start by choosing the right meat. Ground beef should be very lean. Check the package for the amount of fat in each serving. The higher percentage of lean, the better.
  3. Now you want to get your recipe (which I will give you at the end of this post), read over it, and gather your ingredients. Having your ingredients together will lessen your prep time when you start putting them together.
  4. Make sure that you follow the recipe to the letter. Do not skip any steps or you will wind up with a less than desirable dish!
  5. Measure ingredients for Meatloaf carefully! It is so very important that you measure your ingredients carefully. If you want your ingredients to be exact, especially if you are new to baking, use a kitchen scale to weigh out your meats, breadcrumbs, and other ingredients. The reason you should do this is that the weight of these ingredients can vary greatly from brand to brand and type to type.
  6. Mix all of your ingredients together very well. You will need to do this before adding more of the ingredients. I will reiterate here, Follow your recipe to the letter for the best results!
  7. Next, you want to get your pan, a 9.25×5.25-inch loaf pan that is more than 2 inches deep. This will allow your meatloaf to rise higher and not end up being a fried “meatloaf patty.”
  8. Go ahead and pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees F. while you are putting your meatloaf together. A hot oven is crucial to getting your best results.

Below you will find the recipe for “Italian Style Homemade Meatloaf

Ingredients:

1 lb. lean ground beef

2 eggs

1 cup Progresso™ Italian Style Bread Crumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1/8 teaspoon pepper

1(14-oz.) jar tomato pasta sauce


Directions:

1. Heat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except pasta sauce; mix well. Add 1 cup pasta sauce; mix well. Press mixture into an ungreased 9.25×5.25-inch loaf pan.

2. Bake at 350°F. for 40 minutes. Pour the remaining pasta sauce over the meatloaf. Bake an additional 15 to 20 minutes or until thoroughly cooked in the center and the meat thermometer registers 160°F. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
